The eastern tiger swallowtail (papilio glaucus) can be found in woodlands, fields, roadsides and gardens, and beside rivers and streams in eastern North America from Ontario to Florida, west to Texas and the Great Plains. Look for them from February to November in the south and May to September in the northern portion of their range.
Zebra Longwing Butterfly
A zebra longwing butterfly (heliconius charithonia) feeds on a bouganvilla flower in a garden in Riverview, Florida. It is the state butterfly of Florida.
