Texas Wind Turbine Generators

Wind turbine generators in Texas generate almost 16% of the electricity used in Texas. They also produce more electricity from them than from wind turbine generators in any other state.

Bridge Over Pecos River BW

The Pecos River and US 90 in Val Verde County Texas.The bridge over the river is 1310 feet long and approximately 273 feet above the water level. It is the highest highway bridge in Texas.

St. Augustine Lighthouse

Originally constructed of coquina rock in 1824, the "Old Spanish Watchtower" was threatened by erosion by the 1870;s. It was rebuilt with brick and iron on its present site in 1874 and the old structure collapsed in 1880.

It stands 165 feet above sea level and still uses the original Fresnel lens. This first order Fresnel lens is powered by a 1,000 watt bulb.

St. Marks Lighthouse

The St. Marks National Wildlife Refuge was extablished in 1931 for migratory birds and covers parts of three Florida counties, Jefferson, Taylor, and Wakulla. It stretches along 43 miles of the Gulf Coast of northwest Florida, encompassing over 70,000 acres. It consists of coastal marsh, islands, tidal creeks and the estruaries of seven Florida rivers.

It is also the home of the St. Marks lighthouse. established in its current location since 1842, and still in use today. The lighthouse was originallhy built in 1831 and moved to its current location in 1842 because of erosion. It stands 82 feet high.

Father Pedro Camps

This is a statue of Father Pedro Camps, a Roman Catholic priest and missionary from Minorca. It is outside the Cathedral Basilica of St. Augustine, where his body is buried.

The Cathedral is the oldest church in Florida, built from 1793 to 1797.

Flagler College BW

Flagler College was established in 1968 as a 4-year residential liberal arts college in St. Augustine, Florida.

It is named for Henry Flagler, who founded Standard Oil with John D. Rockefeller and built the Hotel Ponce de Leon in 1888. It was the first major poured-in-place concrete building in the United States. It was designed in Spanish Renaissance style by the architects John Carrere and Thomas Hastings. Edison Electric powered it with steam and 4,000 electric lights. Louis Comfort Tiffany designed the interior, including stained glass windows and mosaics.

The hotel is now known as Ponce de Leon Hall, a National Historical landmark, and is the centerpiece for Flagler College.

Flagler College

H.C. Smith Store

The H.C. Smiuth Store, built in 1915 is part of the Pinellas County Heritage Village in Largo, Florida. It originally served as a grocery and meat market in south St. Petersburg and it has been restored as a 1920's era general store somplete with a service station and garage.

Blanton United Methodist Church

The Blanton United Methodist Church, since its beginning in 1906, has been the only organized church in Blanton, Florida.

It was originally built by Tom Jordan and Will Heacock. The interior was remodeled in 1946-47.

The parsonage is located in Trilby.
