Pecos River Canyon Bridge

The Pecos River and US 90 in Val Verde County Texas.The bridge over the river is 1310 feet long and approximately 273 feet above the water level. It is the highest highway bridge in Texas.

Painted Desert Inn

The Painted Desert Inn was designed in pueblo revival style by National Park Service architect Lyle Bennett. It was placed on the National Register of Historical Places in 1976 and named a National Historical landmark in 1987.

Built in the 1930's by the CCC, it was placed above a seam of bentonite clay, that swells and shrinks in response to changes in moisture, which causes it to have structural problems. It is open year round but with limited hours because of the structural problems.

Established in 1903 as a general store/trading post, the Indian Pass Trading Post, also known as the Indian Pass Raw Bar, now serves as a bar and grill specializing in seafood.

St. Marks Lighthouse BW

The St. Marks National Wildlife Refuge was extablished in 1931 for migratory birds and covers parts of three Florida counties, Jefferson, Taylor, and Wakulla. It stretches along 43 miles of the Gulf Coast of northwest Florida, encompassing over 70,000 acres. It consists of coastal marsh, islands, tidal creeks and the estruaries of seven Florida rivers.

It is also the home of the St. Marks lighthouse. established in its current location since 1842, and still in use today. The lighthouse was originallhy built in 1831 and moved to its current location in 1842 because of erosion. It stands 82 feet high.
