This narrowleaf silkgrass, Pityopsis graminifolia, also known as golden aster and silver-leaved aster, was found in Polk County Florida's Indian Lake Estates along a roadside. It can be found in the southeastern United States and as far north as Ohio and Maryland on roadsides and other disturbed habitats. This member of the aster family likes dry open soil.

This Chapman's blazing star, Liatris chapmanii, was found along a roadside in Polk County's Indian Lake Estates, Florida. Also known as
Chapman's gayfeather, it can be found in Florida, Alabama and Georgia,, along beach strands and dunes, sand ridges, fields and roadsides.

Pale Meadowbeauty
A pale meadowbeauty , Rhexia mariana, blooms on a roadside in Indian Lake Estates in Polk County, Florida. It is a native Florida perennial and can be found in savannahs, wet prairies, marshes, and wet pinelands. It comes in shades of red, pink, purple, lavender and white.

Orange Milkwort
This orange milkwort, Polygala lutea, was on the side of one of the unused roadways in Indian Lake Estates. Florida. This was projected to be a large subdivision but is largely unpopulated.
It can be found in pine barren depressions and swamps in the southern and eastern United States. It likes wet sandy soil and is also known as bog batchelor button and candy weed.

Firewheel
The Indian blanket or firewheel is a member of the sunflower family. A native plant, it occurs from the middle United States south to Northern Mexico. its scientific name is gaillardia pulchella. In some places it blooms year round and it is the state wildflower of Oklahoma.
