Florida Prairie lake

This is an example of Florida's dry praitie ecosystem after it has been turned into pasture land. This still has the open grassy areas interspesed with seasonally wet shallow areas like this lake, but lacks some of the small shrubs and palmettos that would have been in the original prairie. You can still get a feel for the large open areas and understand why Florida used to be one of the largest cattle producing states in the United States.
