Longhorns and Other Cattle

To make it easier to picture the longhorns and other breeds of cattle in the wild, browse the images below.

Ankole-watusi cattle are said to have the longest horns and the horns with the greatest diameter of all of the breeds of cattle from around the world.

Descendants of the Spanish and Portugese longhorn cattle of the Iberian Peninsula were brought to the America's in the late 1400's by the Spanish.

These cattle went feral in Florida and the southwestern United States until after the American Civil War, when ranchers began to round them up to answer a desire for beef.

Genetically they are descendants of cattle originally from India and Africa.
